The most goals in an NHL career wasn’t the only record the GR8 broke this weekend.
On Sunday, Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin scored the 895th goal of his NHL career, surpassing Hockey Hall of Famer Wayne Gretzky for the most all-time.
However, Ovechkin’s milestone marker also broke another record…in fashion.
According to Fanatics, the official retail supplier of the NHL, Ovechkin set a record for the largest sales of merchandise by a single player from the league in a single day.
The supplier released a special collection of celebratory memorabilia products, headwear, apparel and more immediately after Ovechkin beat New York Islanders goaltender Ilya Sorokin at UBS Arena. Select items were handed out to players on the ice and in the locker room as well…
